Cherish hope

I sat to write about the current situation happening in the world - the Israel USA attack on Iran and other wars happening in the world at this time. But landed up opening Melody Beattie's book that lies on my bedside table, its pages are faded and its cover has seen better days! This book has been my precious companion and travelled with me over probably two decades but never fails to give inspiration. It has a message for each day of the year - beautiful, short and insightful.
Today's message was on Hope and here it is - more needed than ever before, more meaningful than trying to figure out why humans can kill other humans without so much as a tiny bit of conscience...
Cherish hope
"It was a beautiful city in Idaho. The lake that ran alongside the highway was so clear and blue. I pulled the Jeep to the roadside just to stop and stare. The air was clear. The city felt light, airy, buoyant. It’s name was Hope.
I didn’t stay long. I didn’t need to. But I needed to drive by, drive through, pause for a moment to remember another important power to discover and cherish on our journey. Hope is airy, almost intangible, yet if we don’t have it, we know it. Hope is simple. Clear. Light. Our hearts, our souls, need a good glimpse of it every so often, just to keep us going.
Even those times we can’t have what we want, we can be open to seeing its light shining unexpectedly in another direction, like this small town that caught my eye."
Cherish hope. It adds buoyancy to the spirit,
Lightness to the day.
From Journey to the Heart ~ Melody Beattie

As I look back at the very few blog posts here, it was coincidence or what I have no idea, but last year today 18th March, i selected the exact same topic ! Wonder if its something to do with the fact that Spring equinox is a few days away or because some other power is making this topic resurface in the depths of my being. Whatever may be the case, hope has been a big part of my life - it has both broken me and inspired me at various chapters of my life...
In a world gone crazy, sometimes Hope is the strongest rope one can hold onto, to pull us to the shore...
